I hope that you and your families remain safe and well.
As we reach the halfway point of the first summer half-term it gives me great pleasure to commend our students in Years 11 & 13. They have continued to approach their studies with commitment, rigour and hard work. They have been working diligently to prepare for the assessments that will help to inform their grades this summer, since they returned to school on March 8th. I am sure they will be glad as these draw to a close and the last few weeks of their GCSE and A-level courses come to an end.
I also want to thank our excellent teachers for the additional work they have been doing to plan and assess the work that our students have produced. They will be spending the next few weeks deliberating and moderating to ensure that we can award grades that truly reflect the effort and attainment of our students. Whilst this is happening, lessons will continue but there will be an opportunity for Year 11 students in particular, to prepare for their next steps with some sixth form transition work and careers related activities. Our centre policy on the awarding of grades this summer can be found on our website using the link below. There will also be further information regarding appeals published in the coming weeks.

We have also started to plan some events for our students before the end of term, not only to celebrate the end of their stages of education but also to provide additional opportunities and experiences for students lower down the school. There will be further information on this released shortly.
As the lockdown restrictions continue to ease I also want to thank our families for being so vigilant and maintaining a sensible approach to Covid guidelines. We have thankfully had very little disruption to our school community so far this term. As we all get a little bit more of a normal life back, it is important to remember that we must still minimise the risks and not allow ourselves to become complacent. Please continue to keep the Covid home testing going and ensure your child is wearing a face covering.
Finally, as we approach the half-term break there will be internal exams for our students taking place in the coming weeks. This is usual practice in the summer term and although there has been much disruption in recent times we really do need to get our students back into normal routines and procedures. Your support and co-operation in keeping students focused on these exams will be appreciated.
Stay safe, take care and thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mr J Farr
