In anticipation of extremely hot weather next week, we are planning on making the following
adjustments for the benefit of our school community.
- The canteen will not be serving any hot food to avoid ovens being on and increasing the latent heat flow in the building.
- We will be asking teachers to avoid using classroom lighting to help keep the classrooms cooler, all classroom windows and doors will be left open from first thing each morning to increase the airflow in the
- The canteen space will be kept well ventilated throughout the day with industrial fans to promote airflow and to ensure a cool space for students to use at break and lunchtimes.
- We will be instructing students to avoid being in direct sunlight for extended periods of time and to use the shade of the outdoor canopies to protect themselves from the sun.
- We will be requesting that all students wear sun cream, bring refillable water bottles, umbrellas for shade purposes and to wear sun hats outdoors.
- We will permit students to wear their PE kit for the last week of the term rather than school uniform. This must be a Plantsbrook School PE kit only.

End of term arrangements
On the final two days of term we intend to celebrate with Years 7-10 on the field and have arranged inflatables, games and music as a reward for their efforts this year. We hope all students will be able to participate.
All students MUST wear their Plantsbrook School PE kit if they wish to participate in the rewards days.
Wednesday 20th July
Year 9 and Year 10 will have lessons as normal all day.
Year 7 will attend normal lessons P1, 4a and 5. They will also have a normal lunch.
Year 7 will be on the school field P2a and 3 (10.20-12.20) where there will be inflatables, an ice cream van, games and music.
Year 8 will attend normal lessons P1, 2a and 3. They will also have a normal lunch.
Year 8 will be on the field P4a and 5 (1.05-3.05) where there will be inflatables, an ice cream van, games and music.
Year 7 and Year 8 students will be allowed a free ice cream. Ice lolly or slush.
Students need their own drinks for the day and sun cream.
Thursday 21st July
Year 7 and Year 8 will have normal lessons P1, break and P2a.
P3 will be with their form tutors and students will be dismissed at 12.20pm.
Year 9 students will attend form from 8.40-8.45 to register with their tutors.
P1 and half of P2 (8.45-10.30) – on the field with inflatables, football, games, music etc. P2 – 10.30 – 11.00 – with P2 teachers
Break – as normal
P3 – will be with form tutors and students will be dismissed at 12.20pm.
Year 10 attend school in PE kit. Form and P1 – as normal
P2 until 10.30 – normal
Half of P2 and P3 (10.30 – 12.20) – on the field with inflatables, football, games, music etc… Students will be dismissed at 12.20pm straight from the field.
Ice cream van
All Year 9 students will be allowed a free ice cream, ice lolly or slush from the ice cream van on Thursday morning.
Burger van
All Year 10 students will be allowed a free burger and chips (or chips and a drink) from the burger van on Thursday morning.
Students need their own drinks for the day and sun cream.
We hope that all students enjoy celebrating the end of term rewards days with us. School finishes for all students at 12.20pm on Thursday 21st July.
