Former pupil returns for Apprenticeship Week

Plantsbrook students were given unique insight into a potential career in engineering during a special assembly by a former student before half term.

Frederick Perks only left the school in 2021, and has advanced through Solihull College’s Civil Engineering course to an apprenticeship with the renowned Waterman Group.

The event for Year 10s formed part of a special week of assemblies aimed at highlighting potential careers for the future, for students from all years that involved representatives from Solihull College and Moor Hall Hotel.

Frederick focused his presentation on opportunities within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and says it was nice to return to share his experiences: “I gave them a real peek into my day-to-day life as an apprentice at Waterman, highlighting all the benefits that come with it.”

“From hands-on experience to mentorship, there’s a lot to gain from being an apprentice. I hope I managed to provide some valuable insight for potential future apprentices”
