Admissions to Plantsbrook School
On our admissions page, you will find all the information you need to apply for Plantsbrook at Year 7 or an in-year application.
How to apply for Year 7 in September 2027
Applications will open on the 1st of September 2026 and will close on the 31st of October 2026. All applications must be made online using this link (http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/school-admissions) or by using a Local Authority Preference Form.
The oversubscription criteria are as follows:
· Looked after or previously looked after children.
· Siblings of current pupils who will still be on roll in September 2026 (Children attending our Sixth Form are not classed as siblings.)
· Children in year 6 who attend Town Junior School
· Children of permanent staff at Broadleaf Partnership Trust
· Children who live nearest to the school by straight line measurement from the home address to a designated point on the school site.
Distance
Distances are calculated on the basis of a straight line measurement between the applicant’s home address and the centre point of the old school building. The Local Authority uses a computerised system, which measures all distances in metres. Ordnance Survey supply the co-ordinates that are used to plot an applicant’s home address and the address of the academy.

Appeals Process
Appeals for Plantsbrook School are administered by the Local Authority. Parents who wish to appeal against the decision to refuse their child admission should go to Appeal against a decision to refuse your child a school place to find further guidance and an appeal form.
Appeals will be heard by an independent panel.

If you are looking to transfer your child to Plantsbrook School, please complete and return the in-year application form which can be found here:
Application for a change of school in-year
You can return this by:
- Post
- Hand-delivered to Main Reception
- By email (enquiry@plantsbrookschool.co.uk)
This would need to be returned to Plantsbrook School with proof of address, either:
- Council Tax form
- Utility Bill (less than 6 months old)
Please also provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate
