If you are a parent of a child, who is currently self-isolating and has experienced difficulty in obtaining a PCR test please read this latest email that Mr Farr has received from Public Health.
Dear Mr Farr
I spoke with my senior colleague yesterday regarding the test centre refusing to administer a PCR test. They were wrong in doing this. Government guidance states:
Get a PCR test to check if you have COVID-19 on GOV.UK
If you’re self-isolating because you’ve been in close contact with someone who’s tested positive
If you’ve been in close contact with someone who’s tested positive for COVID-19 you can get a PCR test, whether or not you have symptoms.
This is the link to the guidance https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/get-tested-for-coronavirus/
Please advise parents that they can rebook at the test centre and provide the centre with this information. We are happy for you to share this email directly with parents. If the test centre refuses again, please ask the parents for the name of the test centre and we will take this up with them directly.
