Year 9 ‘Aspire to be’ at BMet College

Just under a hundred students from Plantsbrook visited Birmingham Metropolitan College for special lessons in engineering, games design, media, childcare and more.

The trip to BMet’s James Watt College near Perry Barr was designed to showcase to students the sorts of careers that could be prominent in the future.

They were able to get hands on practical experience of a number of facets of design and technology, including getting to experience virtual reality.

Plantsbrook’s Careers Lead Mrs Dullea says the sessions will hopefully be a real benefit:

“It was a great day and the children really seemed to love it. The sessions put on for us were entertaining and detailed and that sort of variety is key to engaging students to really think about whether some of these career paths are right for them.”
