Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders : Student Leadership at Plantsbrook
At Plantsbrook, our Student Leadership Programme stands as a cornerstone of our commitment to helping every student ‘be the best you can be’—extending growth well beyond academic achievement. We believe leadership is not defined by a title, but by a vital set of life skills that empower students to thrive in higher education and the modern workplace.
A Commitment to Whole-Child Development
Our comprehensive and inclusive programme is designed to offer students diverse, real-world opportunities to develop the essential, transferable skills that universities and employers value most.
Career Readiness: Students gain hands-on experience in communication, strategic organisation, teamwork, and professional responsibility.
Confidence Building: Taking on formal leadership roles enhances self-belief, strengthens public speaking, and nurtures a sense of purpose.
A Positive School Culture: Student leaders act as champions for their peers, embodying empathy, service, and moral integrity to foster a supportive and inclusive community.
We actively encourage participation across all year groups, providing every student with a clear and progressive pathway to grow and flourish as a leader.
Our Progressive Leadership Structure
Our programme is structured into distinct, yet interconnected, strands, offering a development journey that grows with students from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5.
Student Ambassadors (School Representation and Governance)
These highly committed students serve as the official representatives and top role models for Plantsbrook. This is a prestigious role that demands dedication and professionalism, offering invaluable experience in high-level decision-making.

Anti-Bullying Champions & Prefect Team (Service and Mentorship)
We are dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. These roles ensure student well-being is championed from within, promoting responsibility and peer support.
Anti-Bullying Champions (Key Stage 3)
These students are active champions for well-being. They gain experience in vital areas of social responsibility:
Role: Leading awareness campaigns, gathering confidential student feedback, and contributing to discussions about a safe school environment.
Community: They assist with peer support for incoming Year 6 students during transition events, demonstrating empathy and responsibility.
Prefects (Key Stage 4) & Senior Prefects (Key Stage 5)
These roles represent the culmination of the leadership journey, placing students in key positions of trust and direct service:
Prefects (KS4): Lead and manage voluntary and operational initiatives across the school.
Senior Prefects (KS5): Undertake high-level peer mentoring and academic support for younger pupils, strengthening their teaching, communication, and management skills.
Student Leadership Committees (Passion-Driven Initiatives)
For students with a specific interest, these committees provide opportunities to lead change in targeted areas, allowing them to turn passion into practical leadership.
Focus Areas: Students can become Champions in over 10 different groups, ranging from Numeracy/Literacy to Sustainability.
Value: This teaches students how to drive a project, collaborate on a specific goal, and influence change based on their personal interests.
