Arts and Technology

Our art and design department at Plantsbrook School strives to offer our students opportunities that will stretch and challenge them, requiring them to explore and critically assess both 2D and 3D artwork and apply this to their own learning.

Our students participate in a vibrant and ambitious curriculum, applying their knowledge and skills through the development of their own personal art journey, reflective of their own beliefs, values and interpretation of the culturally rich and diverse world around them.

Students deserve a broad, ambitious and creative performing arts curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which ignites curiosity and prepares them well for future learning.

By the end of their time in drama and music, students shall have a holistic combination of practical (subject specific skills) and more general ‘life-skills’ which shall make them confident and ready for the challenges of the adult world of work. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to meet their potential to develop inter-personal skills, effective communication skills and self-awareness. Our department sees students as inventors, composers, devisors and improvisers. We encourage and support students to attend a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Our design and technology department is a fast paced and bustling multi sensory hub within Plantsbrook school.

Students are encouraged to reflect on the past and innovate the future, through the manipulation of materials and combining of ingredients, across a broad range of study areas and topics. We deliver these experiences through traditional workshops, industry standard food rooms and a textiles studio. We enhance these experiences through the use of CAD CAM technologies.
